The
harvested material has to be processed before it is ready for
marketing. Processing can be fully atomized, semi-automatic
or manual depending on the extent of cultivation.
Washing The tubers are washed properly and disinfected and the healthier
fingers are detached from the crown for peeling.
Peeling The skin of the tubers is removed manually with special
types of knives to save the precious part of the tubers.
Drying The peeled fingers are dried in green houses providing controlled
sunlight to obtain better quality of dried Musli. The result
is 20-25% of the original wet tubers. Grading The dried fingers are graded on the basis of color and size.
Packing The dried and graded Musli is packed in air-tight bags as
per requirements.
